I really do hate these things...but this one at least is entertaining. Only problem is this...I don't have 5 people that I know on LiveJournal.

The rules are that once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with 5 weird things/habits about yourself. In the end, you need to choose 5 people to be tagged, list their names and post a comment that says "you are tagged" and tell them to read yours. I realize many of you don't do surveys or quizzes because you simply don't like them or think they're stupid. However, I hope you will accept this challenge.

1. I always sleep with my feet out of the covers...I could be freezing but the feet have to have air.

2. I have really, really vivid dreams. I mean in color, with complete story lines and with continuing episodes...for several days in a row. I acutally remember my dreams...especially scary ones.

3. I'm usually a guy in the vivid dreams...and in the vivid dreams thank god I don't dream about sex (so that makes me female...I guess).

4. I hate it if someone reads my Sunday Paper before me. I REALLY, REALLY like the Sunday Paper...the comics and the coupons.

5. I love when my stomach drops (say on a RollerCoaster or over a dip in the road).

I'll tag: celiasmom; czabus; robgarrett...and that is all I've got.
16th-Mar-2007 02:51 pm - I have a baby fish!!!
Okay I probably should be cleaning the house and unearthing the table as we are going to have a big St. Patty's Day Celebration tomorrow. And I'm really excited to see all my friends. The fact that I don't like corned beef...or soda bread and that my sister who wanted this dinner has now decided to not come...well that is besides the fact. It'll be fun. And I'm just not stressing about it.

Now the good news is I have a cute little red and black platy baby...about a 1mm big. Absolutely adorable...I hope it makes it...as the rest of the brood obviously didn't ;-)
but I couldn't resist this...as I do have quite the collection of ducks.

Captain Quack Rubber Duck Quiz
I am back...somewhat tanned, not like the little monkeys though. Honestly freezing to death...I am slowly digging myself out of my paper and electronic mail pile, but what do I come across...a total time waster...see if you can beat me!

4th-Jan-2007 04:05 pm - I'm Getting a T-Shirt Printed...
We survived Christmas 2006...

Well went to the Drs. office *insert shocked face* and now BOTH kids have Strep...okay only one was tested we just didn't want to bother with the uncooperative one.

Let's see our one month total puts us at 8 Drs. visits and 5 courses of antibiotics for the grand total of....$175...in co-pays it is more like $2K if we didn't have insurance!

Anyway hopefully this will work out because I hear 3X a charm so I expect to be dead...in FL as we are leaving for there in another week! They always say FL is the place to go to die.

Hoping to be sunnier in the Sunshine State!!!
8th-Nov-2006 08:27 pm - Voting...what a big scam.
Last night I went out to vote...I guess I did my civic duty. I swear they purposely write the "question" votes just vague enough to guarantee that it goes their way...cuz no one knows what the hell is involved...so most people go with their gut. Ie...cut teachers salaries...hell no...but what it probably meant was cut teachers salaries 1% until the budget is balance...oops!

So I'm perverse...I vote the wrong way on purpose!

Although one big WoHoo for all the people that donate their time!
7th-Nov-2006 04:44 pm - Amazing Atwood
Life is full of missed opportunities...I didn't go to a Queen concert before Freddie Mercury died. So this time...when Margaret Atwood, one of my most favorite authors came to town. I moved heaven and earth to go!!!

I begged a friend to watch the kids until Rob got home so I could get downtown. When she got sick (no worries she is on the mend now), I begged Rob to come home early...drove, parked took the train, walked 5 blocks (and can I say I am totally not in shape anymore at all).

It was pretty awesome. I wish I looked that good at my age much less the 70+ she is. They did it in an interview fashion...I really liked her. She is pro-humanity...rather than feminist. "I have the incredibly radical idea...that women are human".

She actually traveled to Alaska to teach Inuit women to write...considering she comes from Canada I guess it wasn't too bad ;-)

My favorite part was when she described the differences between American, UK and Canadian literature...in an Animal story, the Brits set-up a class system (badgers higher than the weasels, etc...), the Americans confront the animal and eventually kill it while the Canadians meet the animals, kill it and feel very guilty or just consider it awhile and let it go.

We lined up to get the books signed...met some cool, young people on line...well you know the people that can regularly go to these types of things...god I miss that life. When it was my turn I gave her my books...and mentioned "Gee, do you change your signature after signing the first few hundred of these things...I just wouldn't be able to do it the same that long" She laughed looked up and told a story about a friend that used to go into book stores and sign his books...but then he would also sign all of hers as well...with his signature!!

Afterwards, Liz and I went to a cafe I used to go to all the time...it is still there...and still great! Not so the place I danced the night away in College...Samantha's in long gone. Sigh.

Overall a great day.
22nd-Oct-2006 06:32 pm - A weekend of wonder
Traveling with friends is definitely the best...see cuz you get to pick your friends.

My friend Shelby took a roadtrip to Rhinebeck, NY to the Sheep and Wool festival...WITHOUT KIDS!!!! We took pictures, we drank wine...we were alone!

Our trip began with plenty of Burger King...not good, but soo good!! We did a pit stop out at a Rest Stop...took a picture of the sign...but because we were holding it so close...it only got the Cinnabon sign, but I guess that was a theme.

We went to bed early (11PM) and got up at 5:30AM...too early. But Shelby really wanted to get there...and my mom miracles of miracles actually got up. I even made coffee, but apparently I was too tired to see the regular coffee next to the coffee pot so used espresso...it was a little strong ;-)

Breakfast a few hours later, buffet...and we were at the Festival. Got really close in parking and made our way to a far booth to get some Socks that Rock yarn for Shelby...my mom found a gorgeous yarn to make a jacket. Then after all the grumbling realized why we wanted to get there early...ALL THE GOOD STUFF IS GONE BY THE TIME THEY OFFICIALLY OPEN. The Socks that Rock store had a line of 50-60 people by 10AM...OMG.

I have to clarify I don't even knit...and I'm allergic to wool...but I had so much fun sharing their excitement. We saw tons of beautiful fibers...got to touch everything...Shelby bought a spinning wheel...which I find totally cool! And I got to see some sheep and a lamb cooking demo...I also saw a cute black and white Jersey Woolie Rabbit (and we do have a cage)...but no one would support my obsession and let me get it...sigh. We ate homemade pot pie for lunch...and had to wait 45 minutes for it...but it was worth it. The only thing lacking was actual sheep! They only had a handful of breeds and most of them for Leicester.

After we returned from the Festival...we went out to a really cool bar with awesome food and pretended to be single girls for a while...ie drank beer, gossiped and ignored men ;-) Of course my dad was convinced I was going out and having way too good a time...I mean what kind of mother of two DOES THAT!! Rob thought the double standard was pretty funny...I'm not so sure.

Then it was time to make our way home...and the best part is EVERYBODY missed me alot!!!
16th-Oct-2006 04:22 pm - Garden Greatness
Today I finally planted all those perennials that I received at the DYW Perennial Plant Swap!!! First Liz and I went on a hike which was awesome and much needed. On the way back we stopped by a bakery in a nearby town that I've wanted to stop by for awhile! It was awesome...amazing meat empanadas.

When we got home I went into overdrive to finish planting all my plants. Liz being Liz (and awesome) helped me. I got that front bed cleared out (again) and the mailbox plantings done. Joan is going to bring me some daffodils so I'm pretty excited to put them out and about.

So let's see...other than my back killing me from marathon gardening the past two weekends...I have new in my garden...Purple Asters, Red and yellow daylily, Sedum, I also have Money Plant seeds and some other plant seeds...but I'm not sure what to do with them...actually I'm not even sure what they are. All in fun though!
15th-Oct-2006 05:35 pm - Healing power of John Deere
Wow I've had to write this post for a while...just haven't had two minutes. First off, Bella caused Simon to injure himself. How you might ask? Well she likes to stand on the potty (a no-no) and balance it on one corner...cute. Well he tried it and not only flipped the whole potty managed to fall on the plastic spikes on the bottom of the seat (to secure it on a regular potty) and guage his back. It was pretty graphic and required pressure guaze and everything...so the rest of the afternoon was kisses pretty much everytime he took a step...to make his boo, boo better. The funniest though was when he asked to watch TV and I said "no", he responsed with "But John deere makes my boo boo feel better". I bet you didn't know the healing powers of tractors (no wonder those farmers live so long).
